Overview
Festival is an ultralight low-wing metal aircraft, with two flight posts in side-by-side configuration, with landing gears with steerable nose gear, the aircraft being designed by Aerostar - Romania according to the Canadian standard DS-10141E for ultralight aircraft.
The version Festival R40F is certified in Romania as ultralight aircraft by the "Romanian Airclub" (the Romanian aviation authority for ultralight aircraft), the aircraft MTOW being limited at 577,50 kg.
The version Festival R40CD is certified as advanced ultralight in Canada, by Transport Canada (the Canadian aviation authority), the aircraft MTOW being limited at 560 kg.
Festival is operated in Australia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Algeria, other registrations being under development.
Festival offers much more than a typically light & fragile ultralight aircraft, Festival being a "real aircraft" in the ultralight aircraft world!
OPERATIONS
- Basic flight training for flying schools (civil & military)
- Festival base aircraft is configured for VFR "daily" operation. On option, the aircraft can be configured for VFR "day & night" operation and IFR operations.
- Individual & family leisure flying
- Festival offers an enjoyable flight, offering high flight stability in various summer & winter weather conditions. The comfortable cockpit offer a great panoramic visibility for its occupants.
- Recreational & tourism & observation flights
- Festival can be successfully used by the airclubs for the recreational flights of their members. The tourism companies can find Festival as very convenient aircraft for their needs.
- Glider towing
- Festival can be equipped with a towing system for gliders and banners.
- Operation on water
- Festival can be equipped with floats (two metal straight / hydraulic floats, CZAW made) for operation on water.
- Agricultural "crop spraying" operations
- Festival can be equipped with a crop-spraying installation (atomizers) for agricultural works, up to 265 lbs / 120 kg chemical substances being loaded into the composite tank located outside the cockpit.

- The Festival's canopy is 47.25" / 1,20m wide, one of the biggest in the ultralight class, offering an excellent comfort to both pilots. The canopy offers an excellent panoramic visibility for the aircraft occupants.
- The seats are adjustable (back & aft), accomodating various pilots inside of the canopy.
- A spacious baggage area is created behind the seats, the rotation of the seats letting an easy access in interior.
- The canopy is heated & ventilated, offering to the pilots the possibilities to fly comfortable in summer & winter operations.
- Durability
- Festival is a full metal aircraft, with a robust & rugged construction. The airframe is full anodized for creating a very good corrosion protection in a normal & saline environment as well in rain & sunny operations.
- The strong metal landing gear let Festival to operate with success on paved & unpaved runways. The steerable nose gear, equipped with rubber shock absorbers, absorb the runway shocks, making the grass strips a speciality for Festival.
